Cami Cakes......Cupcakes yum!!!!
One of our local radio producers Nina Brown from V 103 had been talking about these really good cup cakes by a company called Cami Cakes. I kept saying I was going to try them but never took the time to go and check them out. Well today happened to be a co workers Birthday and I know he likes sweet stuff and was pretty sure he had not tried cami cakes so I used his Birthday as an excuse to get it in gear and go!
Boy oh boy I am sooooo happy that I did. First off all when you hit the door, it smells amazing. The young ladies behind the counter were very nice and patient as I had no idea what I wanted to get because there is so much too choose from.
I did a variety mix for my co worker and I had the Banana Cream for myself....delish! The icing was just sweet enough. The cupcake was moist and did not fall apart when I took a bit.
Presentation for me is big. The cupcakes look exactly as they do on the web site and they are given to you in a cute pink box. I want to have a party just so I can display the cupcakes.
The shop is small, pink and clean.
Price-Good-$2.50 per cupcake

Slow Cooker-Chicken With Red Onion Salsa
I have had this Sara Lee Semi-Homemade Slow Cooker Recipes II cookbook for about a year now and have never used it! I have decided that I will try a recipe from the book at least once a month.
Below is the first dish-Chicken With Red Onion Salsa
Ingredients
4 chicken breasts, rinsed and patted dry
2 tablespoons Mexican seasoning
2 (10 ounce) cans Ro-Tel tomatoes
1 (6 ounce) can tomato paste
2 medium red onions, peeled and finely diced
Directions
1. Season both sides of chicken breasts with Mexican seasoning and set aside.(I used adobe seasoning and hot chilli powder) 2. In a medium bowl, stir together diced tomatoes, tomato paste, and onions.
3. Pour half of salsa mixture in the bottom of a 5-quart slow cooker; Add chicken and top with remaining salsa mixture.
4. Cover and cook on LOW for 4 to 6 hours.
The dish came out good and was quite tasty. I served it with yellow rice.
Easy breezy dish!

Blog needs love....
Okay so I have been neglecting my blog for awhile and I need to get on the ball blogging and getting some traffic here:-)
So I am sooooo far behind this year with Halloween. I love to get pumpkins(usually store bought) and display them around the house and outside prior to Halloween.
I have yet to do this and Halloween is this weekend.
Well I've decided to try out a Pumpkin Patch that's been getting a lot of buzz here in Atlanta Burt's Farm http://www.burtsfarm.com/ .I will be sure to write a review
and post pics if we make it out there.

Helping those without food
Clearly I love to eat! I also love to help those in need. I try to collect food from friends and family throughout the year but especially around the holidays.
I know there are a lot of charities out there so please make sure you are doing your part and give back.
We give the food to our local saint vincent de paul.

Yogli Mogli-Not your everday soft serve yogurt
Yogli Mogli
I had heard some really positive reviews of this place so I finally made my way in.
Most of the reviews I heard said expect a long line but to my surprise on a Saturday around 1:30pm there were only 3 people ahead of me.
Here's the run down:
You walk in grab a cup(they are all one size) and serve yourself to several different choices. I decided on a cheesecake and strawberry mix.
You then step up to the toppings there were hard toppings like candy and soft toppings of fruit.
I chose butterfinger(just a little),strawberries and kiwi.
You are charged by the ounce(.39) but for all I just described my total was just over 3 bucks-not bad!
There is a high bar with chairs inside and a small amount of sitting outside. I took my treat to go. I ate it in about two miles!!
I will be back for sure.

Saigon Cafe-Pho Sho!
I met a friend hear for lunch because I hear the Pho is very good!
Time: 1:15pm
We were promptly greeted at the door and seen to a table. The restaurant was about 70% full.
One server brought us out water almost as soon as we sat down and a few minutes later another server came over and took our order.
I ordered the Medium Pho Bowl(chicken) with an order of Fresh shrimp and pork spring rolls(not fried)
The Springs Rolls came out in about 10-15 minutes and were very good! The wrapping was nice and the fillings inside seemed very fresh.
I have had them before and the wrapping was slightly stiff.
About 10 minutes after the rolls came out the Pho Bowls came out.
My goodness-nice and pipping hot just the way I LIKE it!
All of the chicken was white meat. No traces of dark meat.
I don't think I lifted my head out of the bowl more than 2 times.
Service-Great-Re filled our drinks, asked were we okay and had a smile the entire time.
Oh and when he saw me look up and around almost instantly he said "do you need a fork?" "Yes please", I replied:-)
Food-Great!
Price-AWESOME-$6.50 for a medium bowl!!!
Interior-Average in terms of decorations but very very clean
Would I go back? Yes for sure!!!!
Why can't this place be on Buford Hwy. I just hate fighting that I-85 traffic:(

Korean Anyone....Han IL Kwan
I ended up here for lunch as one of my favorite Pho places was closed as they were on VACATION!
Um excuse me you can't go on vacation when I have a Pho craving....just kidding.
I ventured to Han IL Kwan which is a Korena Restuarant. I heard the Golbi is good so since I am a Golbi fan I figured why not.
Food-Good-I had the Golbi Lunch Box-Golbi,3 california rolls, salad, white rice and tempura veggies and a pice of shrimp. The Golbi was very tasty.
While waiting on the food(which is typical of most Korean Restuarants) they bring you out small dishes of various pickled vegetables and a soup. I enjoyed maybe half of them. Favs-Seaweed, Kimchi, and the soup.
Service-Good-Everyone was friendly and served us quickly.
Price-Good-under $12.00
I would definitely good back.

AWWWWW BBQ in Austell
Several months ago Sonny's BBQ in Austell closed which left ZERO options for BBQ. I was not a huge Sonny's fan but those times when I wanted some BBQ it was there.
How happy I was when I passed by Mr D's BBQ. Small bldg with a big truck parked outside, flashing lights and a sign that read free samples...I am in!
After talking to the smoke master and him finding out I am from Texas the home of brisket he offered up a nice sized sample of brisket...um um good!
Since I had a good sampling of the brisket I ordered something I thought most people would eat which is the chicken, here's my review....
Service-Good(Service with a smile)
Interior-Small but clean, most people were getting to go orders.
Food-I had Chicken,Yams , Baked Beans and a corn bread muffin. The chicken was a little drier than what I like but good overall.
Yams and Baked Beans were good.
The cornbread muffin taste like it was not baked fully. Taste a bit like dough.
Price-$9.45 1/2 a chicken,yams,baked beans and a corn bread muffin-Not bad.
I would go back as I am a big BBQ eater and this is the ONLY place in the neighborhood.

White SANGRIA-YUMMY
My plan for the 4th of July weekend was to prepare a brunch menu.
While looking for ideas to cook a brunch menu I came across a recipe for White Sangria. Seeing this made me put White Sangira in my google search engine and low and behold there are lots of recipes for this drink.
I took a little from this recipe and a little from that recipe and came up with a really delicious, refreshing drink. Here yeah gooo......
Put the following in a closed container for at least 24 hours then enjoy
I picked up a glass container at Walmart with the spout at the bottom and closed top.
2 bottles of Riesling
The juice of 2 oranges
1 orange sliced
1 lemon sliced
1 lime sliced
1 apple sliced
Approximately 15 strawberries sliced
1/2 cup of pine apple
2 kiwis sliced
1 1/2 cups of sugar melted down with a small amount of water.
I put the sugar in last and stirred everything up.
Easy recipe that came out pretty good.
Please let me know if you try this and how it works out for you.
